김민화 광진문화원 교육분과위원장. 그녀를 우리나라 차밍스쿨의 살아있는 역사로 봐도 좋다. 국내에 ‘차밍워킹(charming walking)을 최초로 도입해 여성이 갖추어야 할 리더십과 매너십을 가르쳐 온 사람. 여성의 사회적 지위 향상과 그 사회의 성숙도는 비례한다고 믿는 사람. 세상의 이목을 끄는 큰 목소리이기보다 따뜻한 포용과 가르침이고자 하는 사람. 김민화 위원장은 여성이 갖추어야 할 품위와 행동을 교육적인 학문의 단계로 정착시켜 온 여성 희망인물이다. 2013년 2월 어느 날, 여성이 갖춰야 할 기본을 지켜냄으로써 우리 사회 여성의 위치를 신장시켜 온 김민화 위원장을 만났다.

차밍 워킹으로 여성을 당당하게 만들다

김민화 위원장은 백화점 문화센터에서 ‘차밍댄스&워킹’ 강의를 막 마치고 오는 길이라고 했다. 수십 년 동안 강의를 해 왔지만 한 번도 지쳐 본 적이 없다는 그는 “일할 때 가장 신이 나고 날아갈 듯이 즐겁다.”고 했다. 매일 아침 듣는 음악을 놓쳐본 적이 없고 어떤 길을 가더라도 정확한 자세로 걸으며 어떤 사람을 만나더라도 바른 마음가짐을 가진다고 했다. 그에게는 확신이 있었고 자신이 있었다. 김민화 위원장은 “자신 있는 여성은 인생의 절반은 성공한 것입니다. 바르게 걷고 행동한다는 것은 곧 자신감이 있다는 것입니다.”라고 말한다. 김민화 위원장은 어린 시절에는 발레리나를 꿈꾸었고 KBS TV ‘미스캘린더’ 등에 방송출연을 하며 출중한 예능감을 보였다. 차밍 매너와 워킹이 김민화 위원장의 삶이 된 것은 결혼 후 싱가포르 유학 시절부터다. 싱가포르의 저명한 차밍스쿨인 ‘Rich International Charming Woman School’에서 세계 각지의 여성들과 만나게 된 김민화 위원장은 워킹 강의가 곧 인생이 될 것이라는 사실을 직감한다. 귀국 후 국내 최초로 워킹 분야에서 전문가가 된 김민화 위원장은 페이스벨류 차밍스쿨 원장과 리치인터내셔널 차밍스쿨 원장을 역임하고 호텔신라 패션쇼, 백화점 패션쇼 등을 기획하고 연출하는 등 뚜렷한 활동을 펼쳐갔다. 그의 워킹레슨은 전문성과 독창성에서 국내 최고로 꼽힌다. 그다지 여성스럽지 못한 여성도 김 위원장의 레슨을 거치면 여성다운 분위기로 정돈된다. 하이힐을 제대로 신는 방법, 미니스커트를 입음으로써 각선미를 가꾸는 비결, 몸의 선을 살리는 올바른 자세 등의 실전강의에는 수십 년에 걸친 김민화 위원장만의 체험과 열정이 녹아들어 있다.

 

정돈된 매너로 흐트러진 세상 바로 잡다

활발하고 밝은 성격만큼이나 김민화 위원장의 행동반경은 넓다. 이미지 컨트롤을 지도하는 차밍스쿨, 여성들의 외모를 가꾸어주는 ‘차밍댄스&워킹’에 이르기까지 그 어느 순간에도 자신을 던지지 않는 순간이 없었다. 김 위원장은 국내 유수의 대기업과 금융기관, 산업체 등에서 다채로운 강의 활동을 펼쳐가고 있다. 광진문화원에서만 10년 이상 강의를 해왔고 갤러리아, 롯데, 신세계 등 전국 백화점 문화센터에도 출강하고 있다. 그의 모습은 마치 일곱가지 빛깔의 깃털을 지닌 팔색조와도 같다. 백화점에서는 여성들의 따뜻한 이모가 되어 품위와 인품, 매너를 강의하지만, 기업 강의에서는 카리스마 넘치는 비즈니스 매너를 가르친다. 김민화 위원장에게 차밍매너와 워킹은 곧 삶을 당당하게 사는 비결이다. 김민화 위원장은 “자신 있는 걸음을 걷기 위해서는 부단한 연습이 필요합니다. 처음에는 맨발로 바닥에서 연습을 하다 낮은 굽으로, 그리고 다시 하이힐로 걸음걸이를 연습해가면서 등을 쭉 펴고 배에 힘을 주면서 상체를 앞으로 내밀듯이 걸어보세요. 그리고 무릎을 편 상태에서 발은 앞꿈치부터 뒷꿈치의 순서로 바닥에 닿도록 걷게 되면 처음의 긴장감은 자신감으로 이어져 당당한 자세를 유지해줍니다.” 라고 알려주었다 복근과 배근을 사용해 올바른 워킹을 하루 30분 실시하게 되면 다리와 배, 등의 군살이 빠지면서 바디라인이 정돈될 수 있다는 조언도 잊지 않았다.

 

여성의 자기계발과 발전 위해 아낌없이 헌신하다

김민화 위원장의 강의는 오늘날 소중한 가치를 지닌다. 22년 이상 올바른 자세와 워킹을 강의해오면서 여성에게 필요한 매너를 필수적인 교양으로 알려왔기 때문이다. 서비스 매너 아카데미가 우후죽순 격으로 생겨난 요즘이지만 김민화 위원장의 차밍 강의는 남다르다. 김 위원장의 강의에는 아름다운 도전과 부단한 노력이 내재되어 있다. 세상이 부르면 언제든지 달려가 강의를 할 수 있는 준비가 되어 있다는 김민화 위원장. 그에게 여성이란 어떤 의미일까. “여성이 발전해야 나라가 발전합니다. 여성이 자기계발을 할 때라야 세상이 진화합니다.” 다가오는 미래에는 후진을 양성해내는 차밍아카데미를 꿈꾸고 워킹매너로 무료봉사도 해 보고 싶다는 김민화 위원장. 국내 최초로 여성대통령이 당선되어 너무나 기뻤다는 그녀는 활짝 웃고 있었다.

 

 

김민화 PROFILE... 경기대학교 관광학과를 졸업하고 싱가폴 Rich Internationl Charming Woman School에서 수학했다. KBS 주최 미스 Calender와 미스제일은행을 수상한 바 있으며 목포 MBC 고품격 매너교실, 이미지컨트롤 연구소 차밍스쿨을 비롯해 백화점과 대기업 등에서 활발한 차밍 강의활동 중이다. <2011 헤럴드 경제 혁신문화예술대상>, <2012 시사투데이 대한민국 미래대상>을 수상했다. 현재 광진구 광진문화원 교육분과위원장이다. 광진문화원 서울시 광진구에 있는 광진문화원은 문화관광부 지정, 문화학교로 지정받아 300여 개의 다양한 문화예술학교를 진행하고 있다. 향토 사료 발굴사업, 국악예술관 운영, 우리문화 체험교실, 어르신 문화학교, 찾아가는 문화원 등 지역문화 행사 개최 등 볼거리가 풍성한 문화행사 등을 개최하고 있다.

Minhwa Kim, chairman of education department of Kwanjin culture center, is the living history of Korea's charming school. She is the one who first introduced 'charming walking' to Korea to give an education on female leadership and manner, firmly believes the more empowerment for women the more maturity for the society, and always looks for engagement and lessons rather than bigger voice. Ms. Kim has upgraded the lessons on how women maintain their dignity and behave into a field of study. We interviewed her who help improved the status of Korean women by teaching them proper manner in February 2013.

Make women have pride in themselves with charming walking

Ms. Kim said she was right on the way back from the lecture on 'charming dance & walking' at a culture center of a department store. She who has been never tired in classes for the past several years added, "I am the happiest while working". She never skips the music she listens to every morning, always walks in a proper form anywhere, and has a positive mind whoever she meets. She has conviction as well as confidence. She said, "women with confidence are half way to success. And walking and behaving properly means having confidence". She dreamed of becoming a ballerina and was attractive enough to be on one KBS TV program called 'Miss calender' when she was young. She started falling into charming manner and walking while staying in Singapore to study. She learnt intuitively that she would become an instructor on charming walking while studying at the famous 'Rich International Charming Woman School' in Singapore and meeting with women from many other countries. Ms. Kim who became Korea's first charming walking expert since back home served as a president of Face value and Rich international charming schools and planned and directed fashion shows at Shilla hotel and department store. Her walking lessons are regarded as Korea's best in terms of professionalism and originality. A tomboy turns into being feminine if going through her classes. Her years of experiences and passion are reflected in her lectures on how to wear high-heels, secrets of beautiful legs with mini-skirts, and proper postures showing the body line.

Change the world with good manners

Ms. Kim who is active and cheerful works in several places. She does the best every moment when teaching an image control in a charming school and 'charming dance & walking' which helps women look more beautiful. She gives a lecture in many places like large companies, financial institutions, and industries. She has opened classes in Kwangjin culture center for more than 10 years and at culture centers of Galleria, Lotte, Shinsagae department stores across the country. She is like a chameleon. She acts like a caring aunt when lecturing dignity, character and dignity at department stores but is very charismatic when teaching business manners in companies. Charming manner and walking is her secret to confidence. She said, "you need to practice every day to have a confident walking. At first, practice walking barefoot on the floor, and then walking up straight in high-heels straight up sucking your stomach and leaning forward a bit. And if you put down the balls of your feet first and then heels while not bending the knees, you would not be nervous but be confident." And she also advises that if you walk in a proper form using abdominal and back muscles, your body line will be beautiful as losing some fats in the legs and belly.

 

Devoted herself to the development of women

Ms. Kim's lecture is more valuable today. That is because she has promoted the necessary manners for women as an essential course. These days a service manner academy is almost everywhere but her charming class is different. There is the spirit of challenge and efforts in her lectures. She says she is always ready to give lectures anywhere. We questioned her what her thought on the role of women is. She answered, "a country can be developed only when women are empowered. The world will be advanced only when women developed themselves." She reveals her hope that she wants to set up a charming academy to nurture future charming experts and offer a free service by using her expertise of walking manner. She shines out so clear and bright saying she is thrilled at have the country's first femal president.
