“‘지속가능한 경영’이나 ‘지속가능한 사업’ 등의 수식어는 현재 우리 경제가 처한 상황이 장기적 전망을 쉽게 예측할 수 없다는 사실을 드러내줍니다. 실제 현장에서 기업인들을 만나보면 대다수가 지속가능한 경영 키워드를 현실에 적용시키기 어렵다는 고충을 말하고 있어요. CEO라면 누구나 전 세계 경기가 불안한 시점에서 사업을 지속하는 것에 수많은 공력과 인내가 필요하다는 점을 공감하고 있을 것입니다.”

ComeSys Ltd. is originated by Metaltech Korea, which is started by CEO Lee, Hyo-Moon and Ron Scott from Metaltech Service Corporation in 1990. CEO Lee wanted to introduce English excellent scientific technique and applied product to Korea, so he was aiming for complementing making Korean products made in Korea and tests, evaluation skill by adapting with engineering institute about heavy equipment and commercial vehicles. So, by that, ComeSys Ltd. suggested a new paradigm by developing products associated with IT technology and contributing to change constructional machine to be made in Korea. "Actually, these words like a sustainable management or a sustainable business mean the circumstance of our economy is not predictable for the long term plan. If someone is CEO, the person must need the patience and wisdom to continue the business and this is what every business people feel the same." 전자페달 분야에서 영국과 미국, 중국, 한국의 세계특허 보유
다양한 해외기업들과의 제품개발 경력과 이를 통해 습득된 경험을 토대로 회사를 창업한 이 대표는 유창한 외국어 실력에 사업을 하며 박사학위를 취득한 ‘노력형 CEO’다. 이태리에서 3년 동안 하루 평균 3~4시간 잠을 자며 업무에 열중 했던 그는 2000년 10월, 법인 벤처기업인 (주)제어계측기술-ComeSys Ltd를 창업, 내연기관 엔진의 전자식 가속장치 분야에서 차량제어 관련 제품의 기술 개발을 이뤄냈다.
전자페달 분야에서 영국과 미국, 중국, 한국의 세계특허를 보유한 (주)컴씨스는 2003년 영국 북부잉글랜드에 ComeSys Europe Ltd를 설립 유럽시장 개척의 신호탄을 쏘았다. 이 대표는 “미국과 유럽의 세계적인 차량 부품 제작사인 Simens-VDO사와의 사업 협력을 통해 세계적인 자동차회사의 OEM시장을 개척했다”며 2004년 100억 매출 목표를 초과달성함으로써 제조업체로써 규모와 위상을 확고히 했다“고 말했다.
현재 부산과학산업단지에 입주한 (주)컴씨스는 영국의 협력사인 메탈텍 그룹의 설립 취지에 따라 한국의 여러 산업분야에서 영국의 우수한 과학 기술과 인력을 소개하고 있다. 국내외 기술 연구소 등과의 접목을 통해 중장비와 상용차 부문 제품 개발, 피로시험, 내구성능평가 등의 부문에서 성과를 내고 있다.
“벤처기업이 유망 사업체로 떠오르던 시절 서울과 경기, 지역으로 사업부를 이전하는 기업들이 많았지만 사업 터전을 부산으로 생각하고 고향인 부산을 23년째 같은 자리를 지키고 있습니다.”

He explained, "We cultivated anOEM market of the world famous car company by cooperation with Simens-VDO Corporation, which is the international car component manufacturer in the states and Europe. In 2004, we exceeded the goal of the year with making the 10 billion, which was a turning point to tighten our position and the scale as a manufacturer."
Currently, ComeSys Ltd in nestled in the Busan Science Valley and has introduced the excellent English science skills and manpower to the many different types of industry with the purpose of the establishment of Metaltech Group in the UK, which is Come Sys Ltd headquarter. "When the venture booming up was around the time, most of them went to Seoul or Changwon but we moved to Busan and have been here for 23 years."

위기 속에 전자페달 국산화 성공
그는 “부산 지역의 산업 부흥을 위해서는 산업 구조 자체가 바뀌어야 한다”고 강조했다. 문화환경을 바꾸고 기업의 매출 구조와 임금구조를 향상시키기 위한 IT 융합구조의 시스템 개선이 필요하다는 것. 어렵게 양성한 기술 인력이 타 업체로 유출되거나 훈련시킨 숙련 외국 인력들이 여러 차례 이직하는 현실을 개선해야 한다고 지적했다.
“기술인력의 이동에 관하여 경영자추천서를 활용하는 것도 하나의 좋은 방안이라고 생각합니다. 부작용이 예견되는 것은 아니나 인력의 효율적 평가 방법이 될 수 있으며 장기적으로는 안정된 고용구조가 될 것이라 봅니다. 이전 직장에서의 경영자 평가를 보고 인력을 채용할 수 있는 방법이 개발되면 고용주나 근로자 모두에게 공평한 혜택이 돌아갈 겁니다.”
이 대표는 어려운 경제 여건 속에서도 전자페달(Electronic Accelerator Pedal Module)의 국산화를 성공적으로 이뤄낸 경험이 있다. 사업을 하며 겪었던 시련 중에서 그가 잊지 못하는 일화도 있다. 이 대표는 “미국발 경제위기 직전에 미국의 업체로의 납품을 위해 신규장비와 원자재를 주문에 의해 준비했었는데 갑작스러운 금융 사태로 일주일 만에 어려움을 겪었다”고 술회하며 “늘 위기를 준비하지 않으면 언제든지 실패할 수 있다는 교훈을 배운 계기였다”고 말했다.
그동안의 기술 경험과 오직 주께 하듯하라는 신실한 기독교 신앙의 힘을 갖고 맡겨진 사업을 개척하고 있는 그는 중국과 일본시장 수출에 이어 작년에 터키 시장을 진입하였으며 올해에는 인도와 경제위기이후의 미국시장을 겨냥하고 있다. 또한, 북지역과 중국에 친환경적인 엔진을 수출하고 있다.

Success in making Korean auto-pedal in the economic crisis
He emphasized that the industrial structure has to be changed so as to raise the industry of Busan. According to him, it needs It system change to improve the system of making profit and salary system. Also, he added that the reality that professional and skilled talented move to other competitive company and experienced foreign employees has to be fixed in the right thing.
"I have suggested using the reference in technical professionals. This is a good idea to make it up. Regardless of any side effects, it would be an effective method to evaluate human resources and we will be able to have a secure hiring system in the long term. If there is any thought to have a way to hire someone who was recommended from the previous workplace, employers and employees would get a fair benefit in the end."
He used to succeed in making Korean Electronic Accelerator Pedal Module during the hard time period. "Back then, I was preparing for taking over the new factory and ordering materials, however, the IMF happened all of a sudden. So, we were in trouble in a week. It was an opportunity to learn about something like that we have to prepare for the crisis at all times."
With his long-term experience and his Christianity, he attacked China and Japan already and went to Turkey last year. This year, his company is looking at India and America that has been through after the economic recession. Besides, he has exported the eco-friendly engine to North America and China.
